Book Details

Format: e-Book, 356 pages

Publication: April 7, 2021 by Crystal Moon Press

Series: Entangled with Fae, Book One

Synopsis: A beastly fae king with a deadly curse.
A devious bargain to break it…

All Gemma Bellefleur wants is to leave her past behind and forget the day scandal broke her heart. But when she’s captured by a trickster fae king who threatens to hold her for ransom, she’ll find herself at the top of the gossip column yet again.

Unless…

Plagued by a curse that will soon claim his life, the human-hating King Elliot will do anything to save himself. And if Gemma can use that to her advantage, she might be able to bargain her way to freedom. All she has to do is help him break his curse.

There’s just one hitch—to do so, they’ll have to trick someone into falling in love with the beastly, brooding Elliot.

With a devious alliance made, their scheme begins, bringing Gemma and Elliot into very close quarters. Soon, an unexpected desire stirs where once there was only hate. But Gemma must fight it. For when the curse is broken, Elliot will return to his true form—a wolf—and be lost to her for good.

Can Gemma sacrifice her budding feelings to save the king’s life? Or will love force her to give up something even greater…her heart?

My Thoughts

Rating: ★★★★★

I think I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole of Beauty and the Beast retellings, and now fae-based books. Before seeing Tessonja’s post for reviewers, I said I’d never read a book like ACOTAR because it genuinely didn’t sound too interesting for me. However, me being the closeted Disney addict that I am, I immediately jumped on this review request.

This was tied for the best book I read in March. I absolutely loved this book with my entire heart, which wasn’t what I was expecting at all. This will definitely be a book that I reread for years to come as well as pushing it off on anyone who will listen to my recommendation. I loved everything about COTWK, from the characters to the plotline itself.

It was easy to connect with Gemma, which I think made the book more enjoyable. It’s always a bit difficult to read a book that has a main character that you can’t relate to. I also adored Elliot; I usually don’t fall in love with romance characters very easily, let alone from the start, but he was such an intriguing character.

Besides Gemma and Elliot, the other characters were also beautifully written as well. I loved getting to know each of them, and I’m beyond excited for the next book in the series which features one of my favorite characters from this one.

The plot was interesting and paced perfectly. It was easy to get lost in this book at the end of the day (and during), and I ended up ruining my sleep schedule because I was so invested in the book. I’ve been thinking about this book since I finished it, and I’ve probably already driven my dad crazy with it.
